Why did my Salesforce bill increase?
A Salesforce bill rises when usage is billed on top of subscriptions, such as Flex Credits beyond your entitlement billed monthly in arrears at your contracted rate, or when prices change, such as a promotional price renewing at list. Your invoice shows which applied; without it, the cause is unknown.
The detail · 6 points
- 01
Subscriptions are invoiced in advance, usually a year at a time; usage beyond an entitlement is invoiced monthly in arrears, and Salesforce describes overage, shortfall and true-up charges as their own invoices.
- 02
Exceeding a Flex Credit entitlement carries no penalty, but the extra usage is billed at your contracted rate; PayGo usage is billed at list price.
- 03
Under Pre-Commit, a shortfall against the commitment is invoiced at term end.
- 04
Usage can come from places teams overlook: sandboxes draw on the production org's credits, previewing an agent is metered, and automated runs are metered even for users with seat add-ons.
- 05
List prices change: Enterprise and Unlimited rose an average of 6% on 1 Aug 2025, and promotional prices renew at the then-current list price unless your Order Form says otherwise.
- 06
Salesforce's standard terms set no cap on renewal increases; a cap exists only if your Order Form has one.
